Born in about 1715 in Germany, Daniel Shipman moved to Wales with his family when he was a small boy. When he came of age, he and his older brother immigrated to America.

Daniel fathered 12 children, raised his family in Virginia and North Carolina, and died in Kentucky on 11 Aug 1798.
